Frequently Asked Questions
Is NCM a church?
No. NCM is not a church. NCM and local churches partner together to reach and disciple students! We are the bridge from the local church to the campus and from the campus to the local church.
How do I get involved?
Just start coming! Come to anything and everything you can! Any college student can be involved in NCM. We have undergraduate, graduate, transfers and internationals involved in our ministry.
Do I have to come to everything to be apart of NCM?
Not at all! We would love for you to be as involved and apart as much as you are able to! We have a lot going on, but we want those involved to excel in school to the best of your ability, to connect well with roommates, and to be involved in a local church!
How do we view Jesus?
We believe Jesus lived a perfect life, is the Son of God, born to a virgin, and apart of the holy trinity. That he died then was buried, and rose from the dead after three days. Through his death and resurrection we can be atoned for our sin, for anyone who accepts Him. It is through him that we can now have a relationship with God.
What kinds of things do you do?
We focus on missions, discipleship, and evangelism. We have something going almost every day of the week. We have large groups, small groups, discipleship, leadership development, and socials. There really is something for everyone at NCM.
Does the University Of Oregon recognize NCM?
Yes! NCM is officially recognized and apart of the Religious Directors Association, or RDA. This means we are a department on campus, and our staff is not only known by campus, but we are actual recognized members of the UO community.
What is the history of NCM at the University of Oregon?
Northwest Collegiate Ministries (NCM) was established at the University of Oregon during the fall of 1958 by the name of Baptist Student Union (BSU). For 62 years there has been a faithful and continuous full time ministry presence at this large Oregon Flagship University.
Since that launch in 1958 the BSU, and now NCM, get to be apart of the business of sending graduating Ducks through out the Northwest as well as to all parts of the earth to begin careers, start businesses, and plant ministries as they follow Jesus wherever he leads.
